Student Art Gallery

Buyer's FAQ

What is StudentArtGallery.com?

We are a virtual art gallery exclusively for the display and sale of artwork from college students. Our goal is to support these young, emerging artists, and also their academic institutions.

What type of art does the gallery represent?

We represent a very broad range of art, including jewelry, ceramics, glass, sculpture, photography and all types of drawings and paintings. With the exception of graphic art and photography, all works are unique, one-of-a-kind originals.

Is the artwork framed?

In the vast majority of cases, the art is not framed. If it is, it will be so noted in the description. Many paintings are created with the intent to be displayed unframed. Additionally, it would add to your costs, both in purchase price and in shipping expense to frame the work.

Can any student submit and show her/his art?

No. Artists must apply and submit digital images of their artwork. A selection team evaluates and selects art for the gallery. Only the best available work is selected for our gallery for your enjoyment and purchase.

Does the student artist receive most of the money from a purchase?

Yes. This virtual gallery was developed for the primary purpose of supporting student artists, and also giving back to the schools that developed their talents. The student artist receives 60% of the purchase price, the student’s school receives 10%, and the remaining 30% pays operating expenses and supports further development of the gallery.

How is the art priced?

The artist suggests a retail price for their work, however all prices are be determined by StudentArtGallery.com. Every effort is made to establish a marketable and reasonable price.

How is the art shipped?

The artist takes your purchase art to a UPS Store for packing and shipping within three (3) business days of sale notification. It is professionally packed by UPS and fully insured. From that point, most shipping is 5-7 days (ground). The company will provide you with tracking information on your shipment. Air shipping options are available at the buyer’s request at checkout.

Can a buyer contact the artist with a question?

StudentArtGallery.com provides a means for a prospective buyer to communicate by e-mail with the artist. The artist is expected to respond within forty-eight (48) hours to inquiries from a prospective buyer. If s response is not received, please contact us for assistance (see contact information below).

Can a purchase be returned?

A buyer has 15 days from the delivery date to return a purchase. An authorization code must be obtained by contacting StudentArtGallery.com by phone: 1-877-864-8278, or e-mail: service@studentartgallery.com

Is there a cost for an artist to participate?

No, participation is open and free.

Does a person have to sign-up to use the site?

Student artists who wish to display their artwork must apply for participation. Buyers can browse the gallery and make a purchase without any type of sign-up.

However, creating an account will provide you with the ability to save certain pieces, and search results to view at a latter time. It will also allow us to send you specific information of interest regarding artists or medium/genre that you like.

Can art on StudentArtGallery.com be found or purchased elsewhere?

No. Art shown by us is exclusive to StudentArtGallery and cannot be purchased through any other means. The artists may have other work for sale elsewhere, but not work presented by us.

How can I quickly and efficiently search for art of interest?

Our technology allows you to search for work by any (or all) of the following criteria: medium, genre, color, size price, or artist. Advanced search combines any of these or all of these for time-saving gallery viewing. In addition there are three sub-galleries that each feature fifty works of art: 1) a ‘curated’ gallery with works selected by an art expert; 2) a ‘most popular’ gallery with the fifty works most-voted-on by all visitors to the site; and 3) a ‘new arrivals’ gallery highlighting the most recent additions of artists and/or new art.

Hopefully we have made these easy and enjoyable to navigate our gallery. If you have ideas for improvement, we would love to hear from you.

What types of payment are accepted?

Most major credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

What additional charges are there?

Sales tax is added for shipments to addresses in Arizona only. Shipping and insurance costs are paid by the purchaser as part of the transaction total.
